One of the greatest walking neighborhoods on Mercer Island is Mercerdale. The neighborhood is located west of Island Crest Way and bumps up again the Downtown neighborhood. It is fortunate to be home to three well-loved island parks: Mercerdale Park, Hillside Park and Homestead Field. Popular Mercer Island Youth and Family Thrift Store is located in Mercerdale, as is the only skate park on Mercer Island.
Mercerdale Park is where many of Mercer Island’s large annual events are held, including Mostly Music in the Park, Summer Celebration, the Mercer Island Farmers’ Market and Holiday Tree Lighting. Homestead Field is the City’s primary recreational complex, with softball fields, tennis courts and soccer fields. It also has playgrounds, which are the location of the popular summer weekly activity, Funtastic Friday.
The home that dominates Mercerdale is the modest 1950/ 1960 suburban style. The real estate prices in this neighborhood are typically moderate. This neighborhood has a lot to offer to young families who would like to move to Mercer Island so their children can attend the island’s nationally acclaimed school district.
