Groveland

The Groveland neighborhood sprang from a bible camp for off-island religious groups that originally encompassed this area.  Some of these historic summer cabins still are standing today, but most were torn down to build larger year-round homes. The home styles in this neighborhood are eclectic, ranging from charming summer cabins, to homes built in the 1950s, to newer waterfront mansions.

Groveland Beach Park is located in this neighborhood.  The park land was purchased by the city back in 1965. There is waterfront beach access, a picnicking and bbq area, playground equipment and restrooms. Currently no lifeguard is on duty when the beach is open for summer swimming.

If you’re looking for day moorage for visiting friends’ boats, this neighborhood does have a day moorage area.
